ocean wave with three surfers

Surfers welcome.

Santa Lucia de Los Cerritos, also known simply as Cerritos is located near the town Todos Santos, just a 4 minute drive from Casas Cerros Cerritos. Depending on the time of year you visit, you can catch some big waves or enjoy some smaller waves for beginners. Multiple surf spots are within a day’s drive if you want to explore.

Surf guide

  • Playa Los Cerritos is a long stretch of beach that allows visitors to spread out even during peak seasons. Many of the beaches along Baja’s western coast are quite dangerous for swimmers due to rocky sea floors and fast-moving currents. However Los Cerritos is one of the few swimmable beaches along the Pacific side of the peninsula due to protection from an outer reef, gentle currents and a sandy sea floor.

Getting there is easy too. The dirt road is accessible to all vehicle types. Parking is free and abundant.

  • With a sand seabed, consistent Northwest swells, and parking right at the beach, Cerritos is a convenient surf spot all year round for all skill levels.

There are three breaks to surf:

The inside, nearest the big yellow hotel on the cliff is better suited to beginners.

The point is the area beyond the inside. Waves here tend to be larger and better suited to intermediate surfers and long boards.

In the middle of Cerritos is the beach break. This area is recommended for experienced surfers.

  • Winter and Spring are arguably the best times to surf Los Cerritos, but you can count on waist-high waves daily. Experienced surfers generally flock to Cerritos during big swells in December, when waves can get as big as triple overhead.
